Shane was the co-founder and COO of BMCMedia Ltd, one of Australia’s largest online advertising networks, and one of the darlings of 'dotcom' in the late 90s, before being sold to Telstra to create what is now Sensis in 2002.

BMCMedia broke new ground in the network representation field, and is credited with introducing many of the key advertisers that are active in the market today. When asked why he selected Viva9 as his entry-point back into online media and advertising, Murray replied:
